His specialist interests include sports concussion, concussion, TBI, dementia, neurological disorders, mood disorder following brain impairment. He has a research interest in brain injury following sports concussion. James works as part of our concussion service.

James is a Clinical Neuropsychologist registered under the clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist scopes of practice.

James gained his qualifications at Auckland University. His Masters thesis topic was on severe TBI recovery at 2 years. James is a member of the New Zealand College of Clinical Psychologists (NZCCP), Australasian Society for the Study of Brain Impairment (ASSBI) and the International Neuropsychological Society (INS)

He completed his training at the (original) ADHB Auckland Concussion Clinic, Starship Hospital and Auckland Hospital head injury and rehabilitation departments, with an internship at the Community Neurobehavioral Service ADHB.

He provides clinical neuropsychological services for acquired and traumatic brain injury (TBI) for government and non-government organisations. His specialist interests include sports concussion, concussion, TBI, dementia, neurological disorders, mood disorder following brain impairment. He has a research interest in brain injury following sports concussion (rugby, rugby league, boxing, martial arts, cycling, equestrian sports, basketball, alpine sports etc.).

He has worked in Concussion Clinics over the last 20 years on a consultancy basis.

James's work includes specialist neuropsychological assessments within the ACC, Forensic, and Vocational environment, i.e. Medical, Nursing, Teaching, Dental Councils, NZ Police and Civil Aviation Authority. He supervises psychologists and neuropsychologists working in his fields of expertise.
