We’re not just about sports injuries

Our expertise stretches to all manner of musculoskeletal injuries, however, they are caused. We are also specialists in the diagnosis and treatment of other conditions that have caused physical activity to become difficult or where exercise is an effective treatment strategy; e.g. cardiac conditions, osteoarthritis, and cancer rehabilitation. So just because you didn’t injure yourself on the sports field it doesn’t mean you can’t come and see us.

Dedicated clinics and services

For some more serious injuries, we offer dedicated clinics and services that fast track you into treatment:

Working collaboratively

Your Sport and Exercise Physician will design a bespoke treatment plan and can coordinate your care with a range of other healthcare professionals to assist you in your recovery. We work closely with:

  • Physiotherapists
  • Radiology services (e.g. MRI scans)
  • Orthopaedic Surgeons
  • Clinical Exercise Physiologists
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Specialist Physiotherapists
  • Dieticians

At Axis, we have many of these services in house meaning we can often keep your care all under the one roof. This means that when things are not going well, or if you have questions about your treatment, we can quickly respond to make sure that things are on track. However, many of our patients are referred from outside our clinic, and we are happy to work with your preferred provider.

Trusted by New Zealand's best

When they’re not seeing you, many of our team take care of New Zealand's elite teams and athletes, including the Warriors, All Blacks, Black Sticks, Football Ferns and All Whites, the Breakers, Counties Manukau Rugby, Auckland Rugby, Moana Pasifika and High Performance Sport New Zealand. We also work with the ASB Classic and with international bodies such as FIFA.

Treatment Costs

If you have been referred to us, there is a good chance your consultation will be covered either by ACC or your health insurance. In some circumstances, if your problem is more complex it may require a longer consultation. Complex consultations are charged at a higher rate. We will advise you of the costs at the time of booking.
