Gary is a doctor in the concussion service at Axis, bringing extensive medical training and a passion for comprehensive care to the treatment of head injuries.
A long time Auckland denizen, Gary completed his Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biomedical Science at the University of Auckland before earning his medical degree from the same institution. Following graduation, he undertook his medical internship in Auckland and spent several years as a medical registrar within the hospital system, gaining comprehensive experience in acute and complex medical care.
Transitioning into community medicine, Gary achieved Fellowship of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners, establishing a strong foundation in comprehensive patient care. An avid traveller himself, Gary subsequently completed a Diploma in Travel Medicine from the University of Otago.
Gary has developed a particular interest in medical specialties that emphasize non-surgical treatment approaches, making concussion management a natural area of focus. This specialty allows him to combine his broad medical training with targeted skills in concussion assessment and management.
While specializing in concussion management at Axis Sports Medicine, Gary continues to maintain his community medicine practice, ensuring he remains connected to the broader spectrum of medical care and current best practices.
